Swimming lessons, Mr. Incredible, and summer treats

Will just completed his first week of swimming lessons and he did great. The first day he was a little hesitant and when the teacher asked who wanted to go first he would point to the other girls. He was silent for the whole lesson and shook his head no when asked anything but he went in the water with a smile on his face. The second day he burst into tears before even getting into the pool. This was of course the day Josh left work early to come watch him. I'm not sure what was happening in his little mind this day but he did not want anything to do with swimming. The third day he was the star of the class, raising his hand to answer all the teacher's questions, singing all the songs, blowing his bubbles, and now the girls were pointing at him to go first. He even went under which he didn't plan but was not freaked out by it. Will is the only boy with 2 other girls and they both have their eye on him. By the second day one of them was moving to sit next to him, staring at him and putting her arm around him. It was hysterical. He took it all in stride and played it cool. The next day she was not there so the other one started to make her move. He's a looker they can't help it! Now, he loves swim class and is sad that it's not everyday. It was pretty cool to watch his self confidence grow in just a few lessons. He was timid and hesitant at first but that is so his personality. He is just like his Mommy and Daddy. Once he is comforatble, he can do anything! He is actually learning a lot and we will definitely continue his lessons throughout the year.

We have a new member of the family. His name is Mr.Incredible. My son, who does not like costumes, masks, or clowns is now wanting to wear his Mr. Incredible costume all the time and only be referred to as Mr. Incredible. I bought this costume for him last year but right before Halloween he got spooked by someone in a mask and has hated anyhting to do with costumes ever since. He wore an Elvis "suit" last year for Halloween because we couldn't even mention costume and it kind of resembled Daddy's flight suit so it was okay. He didn't even want the Mr. Incredible costume hanging in his closet. He has been obsessed with watching the movie for about 2 weeks now so I thought I would broach the costume subject again. He didn't really want to put it on but I talked him into it and once he got a look at himself in the mirror that was it. He was Mr. Incredible. Now he wants Buzz Lightyear too. He still refuses to go to Chuck E. Cheese (mouse in a costume), the circus (clowns), or Happy Mother's Day brunch (clowns) but it is a start.

Just a few pics of us enjoying some delicous summer treats. Strawberry shortcake with the homeade freezer jam and "frosting" (Cool Whip) and juicy watermelon. They sell watermelon on the side of the road by our house and it is only $2 for a giant seedless watermelon. Yum!
